Benefit Concert at the Hawaii Okinawa Center

Aiea High School student Carly Namihara premiered Okinawa: The Struggle to Preserve our Identity, her senior project documentary film, during Protecting the Spirit of the Okinawan Performing Arts: Uchina Ji-No-Gukuru Mamuti Ikana. The event was a benefit concert at the Hawaii Okinawa Center, held on January 30. Rep. Aaron Ling Johanson was personally invited and was honored to attend the enlightening exhibition, which happened to take place on his birthday. “It was an inspiring illustration of the great things going on at Aiea High School,” Rep Johanson said, also noting how refreshing it was to see a young student take pride in her heritage.”
